About the Author

Carlos Chaverst Jr. was born and raised in Pratt City & Ensley, Al. This aspiring young professional is the eldest of four. He is a product of Birmingham City & Jefferson County Schools having attended elementary, middle and Center Point High School. He previously served as a committee assistant for Birmingham City Councilor Sheila Tyson. Mr. Chaverst is an entrepreneur and currently the principal political strategist for his consulting firm founded in 2017, Chaverst Strategies. In addition, Carlos is the Executive Director of the Carlos Chaverst Foundation 501(c)3 non-profit organization. He also runs a talent agency Chaverst & Associates, a valet company Elite Valet BHM, a film production company Chaverst Productions and he serves as co-founder and President of News & Social Media Content for newly-developed black-owned media network, Culture TV.

His passion lies in civic engagement and he has had the privilege to support many organizations on the local and national levels. He once served as the Youth Director of the Alabama chapter of the National Action Network. In high school, Mr. Chaverst served as Chapter President of the Addition Coalition at Center Point High School. Some of Carlos' previous national political work includes; President Obama's 2012 re-election campaign as a Field Director/ Organizer in Florida and Historical Black Colleges & Universities Outreach Director for Bernie 2016 in Alabama, National Distributed Organizer for Tom Steyer's 2020 campaign, Joe Biden for President 2020 Fellow, and most recently National Volunteer Coordinator for Vote From Home 2020 . He also served as a regional field director for Terra Strategies during the 2017 special senate election helping to elect democratic Senator Doug Jones.

In 2012 he was the recipient of the National Association of Black Journalist: Salute to Excellence Awards on a series that addressed challenges teens face in today's society. Carlos has also appeared on HLN’s former his series After Dark as a regular monthly guest. Mr. Chaverst also has appearances on CNN, MSNBC and a host of other local and national stations across the country. Carlos has organized and led dozens of protests across the country. Including toy gun burnings in Ohio after 12-year-old Tamil Rice was killed. Carlos is currently the co-host of his nightly news and entertainment-based show, The Carlos Chaverst Jr. Show, on Facebook and YouTube LIVE.
