Overview

From her traditional pueblo house overlooking New Mexico's beautiful Middle Rio Grande Valley, the author watched a little covey of quail pass daily in front of her window, all in a line, like a platoon of tiny, feathered soldiers. She fell in love with them and, over time, this story was born. My Enchanted Window captures the subtle beauty of the region and provides a heart-warming narrative of the quail family as they mate, hatch and raise their chicks, and overcome a variety of challenges. Through the quail family's adventures, readers will learn about the region's geology, seasons, native plants and animals, and history.

About the Author

Lucinda McManus spent over thirty years in the corporate world, working for large companies in the health sciences and financial services sectors. She has experience as a Montessori pre-school teacher, corporate trainer, technical writer, project manager, creator and administrator of large corporate universities, and expert troubleshooter diagnosing, designing, and implementing large-scale systemic solutions to mission-critical organizational issues. During her career, she worked for several Fortune 100 companies and has traveled extensively throughout western Europe and Australia. She holds a BA in Sociology, an MA in Business and is certified by the Association of Montessori International.
Lucinda retired from corporate life in 2014 and moved from the East Coast to New Mexico, after having fallen in love with the American Southwest during a series of family vacations to national parks and monuments across California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. During these vacations, Lucinda had several of what she has described as spiritual connections with the land. She is currently involved in a long-term love affair with the mountains, rivers, flora, and fauna that surround her in the middle Rio Grande Valley where she lives with her husband William.
In retirement, Lucinda enjoys reading, writing, painting, making things with her hands, birding, and charity work. Lucinda and William have been married for forty years and have one son, Patrick, an attorney in private practice in California.
