Overview

I had a little poodle/shihtzu mix named Ava and I adored her. She was my world. Ava got sick
and was eventually diagnosed with "Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia" IMHA, a serious and
life threatening condition that affects both cats and dogs. In essence, this means that your pet's
immune system, which typically fights off invaders and infections is now fighting off your pet's own red blood cells. In Ava's case, her veterinarian surmised Ava was inbred and this what caused her fatal illness. Me and Ava fought very hard to help her get well. We would conquer
one health crisis only to face another one. My sweet Ava was only two and a half when she died.

I was shattered. I could not believe that this was they way things would end for us!! I promised
Ava, in honor, in her memory, I would find a dog that really needed a forever home but didn't
have a good chance of getting one. I believe Ava led me to Sir Galahad.....

About the Author

Karen Fairchild was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been a life long champion of all animals.
Karen is presently a dog and cat mom. Her little group of “lost, stray souls are depicted in her book “My Dog Sir Galahad and How He Got His Name.”
Karen believes the ability to love and protect animals is a life Blessing, a life calling. It is a gift from God to be able to communicate, appreciate and relate to our pet children. Karen says “I have so much empathy for animals, I can actually feel their sadness, pain, love and joy”.
She says her mantra is “I CAN’T HELP ALL HOMELESS ANIMALS, BUT I CAN HELP ONE. I know for a fact one person can make a difference.” I pray the message of Animal Rescue and the magical gifts these little “Angels” bring into our life becomes the legacy of my beloved, Sir Galahad. He happened to be a “senior citizen dog” when I first met him and one of the reasons I adopted him. Being an older animal, and in Sir Galahad’s case, also had health problems, is just another strike against a shelter or abandoned dog or cat”.
Infact, Karen continues, “EVERY ANIMAL I THOUGHT I RESCUED, INCLUDING CATS, ENDED UP RESCUING ME! ????
