INDISPUTABLY BEYOND HOPE. ISN'T THAT THE BITCH OF IT."

Reviews of Murder & Other Love Stories:

Nannette Kreisman, American author of five short story collections

'...there is plenty of the unexpected to be found in these tasty morsels!
Hanson provides a smorgasbord of short and micro fiction, each leaving
you with something different to chew on. Many of the stories have a
deliciously uncomfortable edge, but my favorite is The Performer because
of its beautiful prose and endearing romance.'

*****

Julia Blake, UK author of 15 novels and 1 collection of short stories

It takes great skill to craft a perfect short story, but this extraordinary writer has performed
this feat in every single one of the tales contained in the collection 'Murder & Other Stories".
Exploring the human conditioner and spanning the whole spectrum of emotions from love and
despair to hatred and hope, there is a sparseness to the writing that is elegant and precise.

Perfect for dipping into when the mood strikes and with each tale being coffee break length, this collection
of twist suspenseful tales is perfect for the modern reader's busy life. Each story is complete within itself and
will make the reader pause and think, before moving to the next.

*****

Raymond Holmes, Canadian author of two short story collections: Witnesses: And Other Short Stories,
and A Barber's Son: Recollections of growing up in 1950's Toronto
plus two novels

'...Bruce Hanson has illuminated the gamut of human experience and emotion:
the joy, pain and angst of love, insanity, conflicting values, selflessness, courage,
hypocrisy, hope, abuse, and more. His work not only entertains, but raises a mirror
to our own selves and the lives we live. Hats off, ladies and gentlemen. This book
is a rare achievement in creativity, craft, insight and sensitivity.'

About the Author

Hi, my name is Bruce A. Hanson. What's that? You've never heard of me? That's okay. I'll start by saying I'm a multi-genre author and I write for all ages. Here's some rapid-fire facts if you want to get to know me better...

The Past: I started writing sporadically in the late 1980’s. I was so naive then.

Writing Achievements: 8 awards for short fiction & 1 award for non-fiction creative writing.

Zodiac Sign: Cancer, the crabby

Personality Type: Introvert, some geek tendencies, but outgoing with people I know.

Interests: I'm fascinated by Space and and other things I don’t understand - like quantum entanglement and the big bang. (Not the TV show. Not only do I understand the show, I lived it.)

Most Notable (Non-Writing) Job: three months working on the Space Shuttle’s Canadarm. (On terra firma, not in space. I can only dream of the latter.)

Favourite Activities: Dancing, (even though I have one-and-a-half left feet and limited sense of rhythm); writing; doing research and sitting on the dock watching the water flow and the trees grow.

Favourite Sports: Down hill skiing and writing. (Of course writing is a sport.)

Favourite Book Genres: Mystery, International Intrigue, Adventure, Thriller, some Sci-Fi, some Fantasy and anything else that grabs my attention.

Biggest Leap into the Unknown: Improvisational acting lessons from Second City Toronto, and a 10 week intensive with Dave Thomas (who old people may know as Doug McKenzie from the SCTV 1980’s skit, The Great White North, which also featured fellow hoser Rick Moranis.)

Biggest Revelation: I can’t act.

Just For The Fun Of It: Worked as an extra for TV and film including Flashpoint, Warehouse 13 and CBC’s John A.: Birth of a Country.
