Overview

A wealthy businessman urgently summons Poirot, and then dies before the Belgian detective accompanied by Arthur Hastings can arrive in northern France to help him. Poirot matches wits against an aggressive and hostile younger detective, Monsieur Giraud, from the Sureté (the French National Police) in this vintage Agatha Christie mystery showcasing one of the first novels with the famed detective and his "little grey cells". Can Poirot succeed in untangling this complicated mystery with its hints of both love and blackmail using the old-fashioned methods scorned by the younger detective?
