Description: This is the second edition of a well known book on chest imaging that covers a range of disorders within the thorax.
Purpose: The intent is to provide a comprehensive review of disorders involving the chest. This largely focuses on pulmonary parenchymal disease, but it also includes the airways, mediastinum, pleura, and chest wall. The second edition addresses topics which were not covered in the original volume.
Audience: While no specific audience is identified, the book is written at a level appropriate for trainees and faculty interpreting chest imaging. The authors are well known in the field.
Features:
Assessment: The chapters use a nice formulaic approach to disorders, which is used consistently throughout the chapters. Unusual for a radiology book is the clinical presentations, manifestations of disease, and synopses of treatment options. This provides very useful information on clinical considerations for each disorder. The book is comprehensive in its overview of disorders. It covers a wide range of normal anatomy, imaging findings, and pathologies. The use of different imaging modalities and the discussion of their appropriateness are very helpful. The second edition includes new information on lung cancer screening and four new chapters. Image quality and captions are good.
