About the Author

Dr. Latorial Faison is an African American poet, author, and educator from Virginia who has published over fourteen books, including The Missed Education of the Negro, Love Poems, the 28 Days of Poetry Celebrating Black History trilogy, Immaculate Perceptions, Secrets of My Soul, and children's books, Kendall's Golf Lesson and 100 Poems You Can Write. Faison has been published in literary magazines and outlets all across the US and abroad. This twenty-eight year military spouse has taught college English for over twenty-five years in the US and abroad. This collection is a continuation of Faison's exploration of cultural, social, economic, and political issues through poetry. This time, she speaks to African American sons and mothers everywhere very poignantly about the racial days gone by and the racial reckoning ahead.
