Overview

Mother Earth is a simple yet effective book that tell a story in rhyme, of how important the soil is. The character of Mother Earth shows a young boy of color that although soil is sometimes overlooked or taken for granted, it is important for all life. Making the comparison between the color of the soil and the young boy's skin complexion, she expresses to him that, just like soil, he is equally important, amazing and valuable.

About the Author

Gwen Steverson has been writing poetry since she was a child, and has often used it as a sort of therapy. In her books, she aims to show children the importance of self-love, and expressing, understanding, and nurturing their feelings. Skills she admits she has not always possessed, and had to learn along the way. All her books and writings endeavor to help children grasp mature concepts in a simple to understand way.

Gwen's greatest passion is being a mother. Motherhood has been a huge inspiration for her own emotional and personal growth, and she truly feels that instilling self-love, compassion, and confidence gives children the greatest foundation. She believes they are the perfect tools to help them navigate through life with not only a positive outlook on themselves but on the world as well.

She lives in Prince Georges County Maryland with her husband and three children.
