Life demands we eat. Disasters, whether their violence is caused by war, ignorance, viruses or climate volatility, demand we take control of our circumstances and our responses. The most fundamental step in taking control of life's everyday disasters is controlling what we eat.
In More Recipes for Life, author Roger Brigham expands on the collection of dishes he cooks for friends and family he presented in his original Recipes for Life. He encourages readers to challenge themselves by cooking more adventurously and more often. More Recipes for Life doubles the number of recipes that were in Recipes for Life by including all of those plus adding such dishes as cardamom waffles, cheese soufflé, sweet potatoes with pineapple, chicken and plantain stew, sancocho, ravioli nudi, pumpkin flan, and phosphate sodas.
Each dish brings the promise of love to every meal.
Author Roger Brigham is a veteran journalist whose stories – primarily covering sports but ranging from natural disasters and restaurant reviews to animal right and marriage equality – have appeared in more than 20 print and online publications and netted him numerous awards for writing, editing and design. In 1982, he became the first openly gay sports editor at a major daily newspaper.
Brigham is also a longtime AIDS survivor. His battles with HIV in the 1980s and 1990s forced him to reinvent his cooking skills to free himself from the bland restricted diets which were frequently prescribed to other patents. He credits wrestling for his success in life, but his cooking for his continued survival.
Brigham is also a veteran wrestling coach who has assisted with numerous scholastic and adult programs and presented clinics in such cities as Sydney, Los Angeles and Melbourne. He has been inducted into the LGBT Sports Hall of Fame and the Wrestlers WithOut Borders Hall of Merit.
