About the Author

J. Meade Falkner was an English writer and businessman. Educated at Oxford College, Falkner initially worked as a tutor to the children of Sir Andrew Noble, who ran one of the foremost arms manufacturers of the early twentieth century, Armstrong Whitworth Co. This association eventually led to Falkner’s own interest in the company, of which he assumed control as chairman in 1915. Falkner’s best known literary work is the novel Moonfleet, although he also penned two other novels and a number of works of non-fiction. Falkner died in 1932.
