About the Author

HEIDI ZILLES-PAKUCH has been an educator for 27 years. She started her career in 1994 where she taught elementary school for seven years in the regular classroom. The past 20 years. (beginning 2001) she has been teaching gifted and talented students. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in elementary education, a Master’s Degree in Gifted Education, and an endorsement in Administration. She grew up on a dairy farm in Northern Utah. Her current position is a gifted and talented education (G.A.T.E.) specialist.

The inspiration for the book came from a deep love for her father, family and realizing later in life what a treasure it was growing up on the family farm. The characters and experiences in the story are based on family members, animals that lived on the farm, and the unpredictable interactions between them. She continues to be an animal lover and tries to give her city dwelling students and husband a taste of farm life when she can.

Heidi resides with her husband Peter and their Fur Family in Las Vegas, Nevada.
