About the Author

Makoto Ueda is a professor of Japanese and comparative literature at Standford University, and the author of four books, including Zeami, Bashõ, Yeats, Pound and Matsuo Bashõ. He received the Gerald Brady Memorial Award from the Haiku Society of America for his contribution to haiku poetry and criticism in English.
