How To Set Up Your Model Trains From Start To Finish And Create
An Awesome Lifelike Model Railroad That Will Captivate Attention
And Command A World Of Fun

Charlie Logan

As a young boy I’ll always remember the fond memories of visiting my
grandparents on their farm in Indiana during the sultry months of summer.
For me half of the fun was getting their via the Pennsylvania railroad
leaving from Penn Station in New York City.

I was a ten year old boy who couldn't wait for my adventure to begin
on a thirteen hour ride where my parents let me sit by the window.
From watching the mammoth, clanging locomotive pull into the platform,
deep under the catacombs of Penn Station to climbing aboard a relic of
the past I was immediately transported into a world of sights, sounds
and smells riding aboard a diesel locomotive passenger train that whisked
me out of the big city onto a path that journeyed through sleepy towns and
rustic countrysides on the way to my destination.

I was mesmerized by the clicky-clack of the tracks and captivated
by the roaring blare of the engine horn signaling the red flashing
lights of railroad crossings where vehicles and town folks patiently
waited as we zoomed by. These are the memories I will always cherish
for I’m not only a train officando, but a hobbyist who started out with
a Lionel collection as a young boy that grew into a passion over twenty
years, transforming me into a model railroading enthusiast that I'm able
to share with my family and friends.

You don’t have to jump on the Pennsylvania Railroad to enjoy the bygone
era of trains that are steeped in history and loads of fun. The beauty
of model railroading is that you can begin at your own pace and create
your own unique railroading world that you can share with family, friends
and your fellow enthusiasts.

My son Steven will be turning ten years old next month. For his birthday
present he will be taking his first cross country train ride to Los Angeles
with his mom and dad. We will be leaving from New York’s Penn Station, getting
the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago and from there the Southwest Chief to LA.
He can hardly wait. What Steven doesn't know is that when he gets home a
wrapped gift box will be sitting on his bed. Inside... you guessed it,
a Lionel locomotive that my father first gave to me in mint condition
and raring to go. I can hardly wait!
