About the Author

Amanda Powell is a classically trained soprano who resides in East Tennessee. Her professional career spans from 2002-2021. While Amanda has done some stage work, she is best known as a soloist. During her time as a soloist, she helped start two music programs from scratch. Both music programs are still going strong. After her years as a soloist, Powell was a paid ringer in church choirs. After her retirement from liturgical singing, Amanda took a break until the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. In effort to fill a gap in the lives of her friends and family, Amanda led “hymn sings” on livestreams and prepared special music for her neighbors during Advent and Holy Week. To Amanda, performing is all about building a sincere connection. Many people describe her as a ray of sunshine.

Amanda is an avid hiker who has hiked trails in the Canadian Rockies, Utah’s Mighty 5, Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, and Joshua Tree National Park. While she is a mountain girl at heart, Amanda most loves hiking in the desert.
