Overview

The Ernie Terrell-Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay) heavyweight fight was originally scheduled for March 29, 1966. A series of events led to the cancellation of the bout. Evenutally, it was fought in Houston in 1967. Ali fought Canadian fighter George Chuvalo instead of Terrell. Ernie Terrell was a Chicago boxer who was notoriously controlled by the Mafia. His manager, Bernard Glickman, was closely associated with fight promoter/Lucchese syndicate soldier Frankie Carbo.
