Overview

The ‘Mission Spelling’ series teaches children to spell using phonics, with the help of a lovable little alien, called Zoggy, who has come all the way from planet Zen, three million light years away. Follow the adventures of Zoggy as he explores Planet Earth and guides your child through a structured course that contains a treasury of spelling activities. Including: words to sound out; words to build up; phonic rhymes to read, cover and write from memory; spelling lists to practice; and rules to learn together. A “must have” series, which reinforces the spelling rules taught in schools. It is essential for all children who struggle with spelling and will enable reluctant writers to attain the skills they need to get their ideas down accurately.

About the Author

Guinea Pig Education is a family run publishing company based in Surrey, UK. The authors are Sally and Amanda Jones, a mother and daughter team. Sally is a qualified teacher with over thirty years experience of teaching in the classroom and as a private tutor. She runs a successful private tuition business in Surrey, teaching children from 5-17 years. Sally began writing her own educational material to teach English, as a direct result of tutoring children on a one to one basis. She became aware that there was a gap in the retail market of teaching resources that would cater for the specific needs of her pupils. This need gave birth to her creative writing books, which provide reluctant writers with starting points to get them writing. More than this, she realised there was a need for English activities that stretched more able children, for those with special educational needs or where English is a foreign language. Therefore, the books have been written with children in mind, trialled by them in their classes and have produced rapid results. Sally’s pupils, including her own children, have been taught by Guinea Pig materials and have achieved academic excellence. Amanda graduated from a Surrey University in English Language And Linguistics and went on to complete an MA in English and Sociology. Her love of writing began in her teens when she submitted projects to win the title of Young Environmentalist of The Year on three occasions. Amanda assists Sally with the private tuition and spends many hours compiling and editing the rough draughts of the books into a series of popular educational books. She established Guinea Pig Education in 2008.
