Overview

Homicide Detective Tate Gates is a former U.S. Marine, who loves his profession, muscle cars , yellow Labs, and most of all the beautiful Leelane. He is actually fighting city hall, even though this is his employer. His clashes escalate against the corruption of the mayor and his political felons. They are plucking illegal gains from their racketeering and refuse to be disrupted by someone within their ranks. They fear Gates as he is a honest cop and will not be bought at any price. A hit man is brought in as the solution to their problem. Detective Gates is blind-sided by this former Special Services executioner and his life is saved by his two closest friends.
Battling trauma from the life- threatening attack, Gates is nurtured back to health by Leelane, a beautiful nurse who becomes the light of his life. Detective Gates struggles with recovery, betrayal, and vengeance.
The ending pits Gates against uneven forces as he battles for his life in man hunting man. At the showdown, this calamitous conclusion requires a cruel decision only Gates can make. The dilemma forces him to select his answer from a menu of heartless choices. The ending is a triple twist of a surprise as he is forced to choose which relationship will be lost to him.
This is the first volume of a planned series on Detective Tate Gates and his former Navy Seal partner. The 6'7" Wes Stafford is being trained by Gates and learning how to use his brain as well as his brawn. But sometimes Gates enjoys watching his partner rip a door off it's hinges, even when Gates is aware the door is not locked.
