About the Author

The author, TD Barnes, is a Cold War veteran who served in the Army in Korea in intelligence and in Germany as a missileman. As a radar specialist, he served on the NASA High Range, supporting flights of the X-15, XB-70, Lifting Bodies, and Lunar Lander as a Hypersonic Flight Support Specialist. At Area 51, he served on the CIA Special Projects Team, flight-testing the CIA’s U-2 and A-12 Blackbird reconnaissance planes, developing stealth, and exploiting Soviet and other foreign military assets. He participated in the NASA NERVA Project to develop a nuclear reactor for manned flight to Mars and in five atomic bomb tests at the Nevada Test Site.
