Description: The title accurately describes this book, which succinctly details the didactic information included on the certification exam. After a review of the material, the book poses appropriate and up-to-date questions, followed by the correct answers with rationales. An accompanying website also presents the questions with the rationales.
Purpose: The purpose is to prepare students to take the midwifery and women's health nurse certification exams. This is a straightforward, worthy objective. The print and online formats are very similar, but the different presentations are needed for the variety of learners.
Audience: The audience is graduate students preparing to take the midwifery and women's health board examinations. The title meets the need of the intended audience. Both authors are women's health nurse practitioners. It would benefit the book if a midwife also contributed to the body of knowledge.
Features: The book covers all didactic and clinical aspects of the midwifery and women's health examinations. I appreciate the first chapter, which outlines strategies for study and test taking. The last chapter detailing professional issues is also very helpful.
Assessment: This is an excellent book. I appreciate the content and the ease of use of both the print version and the online version. There is no difference between the book and the website, just the preference of the learner. This new edition is needed because of the updates in clinical practice guidelines since the previous edition.
