Senegalese American, Ndieme is the main character growing up with her family in America. She lives with a Senegalese single mother who is left raising her 6 girls alone after her husband abandons them and moves back to Africa. Ndieme gets into trouble due to the fact that she behaves more American and prefers American music and cuture. She grows up feeling like the black sheep of her family. As she navigates life into adulthood she discovers herself through hurdles and challenges. She has three boys and wonders if she will make it towards the future of her desires. All she ever dreamed of was to open a school centered in the arts and sciences. An epic coming of age story about how one's life can change despite being faced with adversity and challenges.
