LILIAN MOORE (1909–2004), poeta y editora, luchó para que se publicaran libros para niños a un precio asequible. GARTH WILLIAMS (1912–1996) is known for his realistic yet highly expressive animal characters. He brought to life some of the best-loved children’s books of the 20th century, including E. B. White’s Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little, and the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. TERESA MLAWER is a pioneer in Spanish-language publishing in the United States. She has translated over 300 children’s books from English to Spanish. Teresa has dedicated her life to the cause of literacy, especially among Hispanic children in the U.S. and Latin America. As a well-known specialist in children’s literature, she works with publishers, educators, and librarians to bring the best literature, whether authentic or in translation, to the attention of Hispanic children and young adults.
