About the Author

Mrs Deepa D. Nair is an IFS Officer of Tripura Cadre. She has completed M Sc in Agriculture Microbiology on Modulation and Nitrogen fixation of Root Modulating Bacteria of Indigofera tinctoria Linn a medicinal plant of commercial value from IARI, Pusa, New Delhi. She has served as Divisional Forest Officer, Research and also as CEO of Medicinal Plants Board of Tripura. At present she is serving as the Divisional Forest Officer, Udaipur, South-Tripura.

Dr Atul Kumar Gupta is an Indian Forest Service Officer (1982 batch) of Tripura Cadre. He has done Ph. D. in Wildlife Ecology from University of Cambridge, UK. He had served as Deputy Director (Wildlife) in the MoEF and also as Registrar, Professor and Head (Department of Population Management), Wil, Dehradun. Presently he is serving as Additional PCCF, Chief Wildlife Warden, Vice-Chairman of the Medicinal Plants Board of Tripura and CEO, Indo-German Development Cooperation Project, Tripura. Dr. Gupta has to his credit more than 120 scientific publications.

Himangshu Bikas Das is an M Sc in Botany presently working as a taxonomist at the Medicinal Plants Board of Tripura. He had served as a Senior Research Fellow in a NIPER (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research) sponsored project under Tripura University on ethnobotany. In the course of this project he has worked extensively among the tribal and traditional healers and has very good knowledge of all the medicinal species in Tripura.

Atanu Chakraborty is an M Sc in Applied Microbiology and was working as a taxonomist with the Medicinal Plants Board of Tripura. He is now working as an ACF in the Tripura Forest Department.
