About the Author

Dorothy Elowise Carter is a woman who has lived a diversified life. She recognizes that life functions in seasons and is learning to move from season to season. For the first thirteen years of her adult life, she was a stay-at-home mother and wife. When that season was over, she went back to school and became a registered nurse. The majority of her nursing career has been in psych and, presently, geriatrics. She still practices nursing; however, she has not practiced full-time for over ten years. She serves in the church as teacher and licensed evangelist. One of her special gifts is working with children and adolescents. She was the founder and director of two children's churches, one in Tennessee and one in Louisiana. She is also a gospel singer, songwriter, and playwright and has produced and directed a number of productions for the churches she has been a member of over the years. From the years 2007 to 2010, she traveled abroad to Spain, Italy, and Germany with a gospel group from New Orleans, Louisiana, singing traditional gospel music. She also worked as a gospel DJ and talk show host at a local radio station in her hometown, Hammond, Louisiana. Her hobbies are gardening, swimming, and playing Scrabble. Presently, she is working on a psychology degree and plans to counsel abused women and children.
