About the Author
Carolyn has published numerous articles and book chapters and has given presentations throughout the U.S. on a variety of topics. She received a B.A from Drake University, an M.A. from the University of Denver, and a Ph.D. from Washington University (St. Louis). She retired as Professor Emerita from the University of New Mexico. She hasn't traveled as much as Mary Jane; but she is making up for that in retirement, and at this point has visited 53 countries, most while cruising.
Mary Jane is a world traveler in every sense of the word! She has traveled to 107 countries, many more than once; and most of her travels have been on either ocean or river cruise ships. Her travel experiences are varied, having cruised with several popular lines including Azamara, Carnival, Celebrity, Costa, Cunard, Holland America, Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Silverseas, Viking, and Windstar. While the shortest cruise was for two days, the longest were world cruises of 104 days in 2011 and 115 days in 2013 as well as an 83-day circumnavigation of Africa in 2014.
She has a B.S.B.A from Creighton University. Prior to her retirement, she was an entrepreneur and owner of several successful businesses.
Mary Jane and Carolyn write about their cruising and travel adventures on the blog - http://worldsailaway.wordpress.com. In addition to the blog and this book, they have created several multimedia presentations that have been shared with the public through national conferences and other venues in the wider community.
