About the Author

Ray Hanania is an award-winning Palestinian American columnist whose writings define the “moderate Arab voice.” His work often mixes serious analysis with humor to offer a unique perspective on Middle East and American issues.

His journalism career spans 35 years in print, broadcast and Internet media covering Middle East issues and events, and also mainstream American issues from the White House to Chicago’s city hall.

Hanania’s writes a column that appears every Wednesday in the Jerusalem Post, Israel’s leading English-language daily. He also writes for PalestineNote.com and is the political columnist for the Chicago weekly newspaper the Southwest News-Herald.

He is the host of the weekday Chicago talk radio show Mornings With Ray Hanania and co-host of the weekly American Arab-focused radio show Radio Baladi (homeland), simulcast in Northern Illinois, Michigan, Northern Ohio and Windsor, Canada.

Hanania is the author of several books, including his popular collection of humor essays and columns that have been published in the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and other publications, I’m Glad I Look Like a Terrorist: Growing up Arab in America (1986) and a history of Arab settlement in Chicago, Arabs of Chicagoland (2005).
