Purpose: This book offers a comprehensive overview of elective and traumatic hand and wrist disorders. The authors not only address treatment options, but also describe pitfalls to watch out for and pearls to help obtain optimal results.
Audience: It is authored by top names in the field of hand and wrist surgery, offering the reader the ability to see how the masters of this art handle these challenging problems. This would be a great addition to the library of any orthopedic, plastic, or hand surgeon. It is also a handy guide for preparation for the CAQ examination.
Features: The layout of this book confines chapters to narrow topics, which makes this book useful in developing a plan for dealing with real clinical situations. For example, hand fractures are divided into particular bones and joints, or even parts of the bone, rather than dealt with in an all inclusive chapter.
Assessment: This is an excellent book, which can readily be used in day-to-day practice or studied at length for topic reviews. It covers the most common problems faced in environmental injuries, infections, neuropathies, fractures and dislocations, carpal instability, radial fractures, arthritic conditions, and congenital anomalies.
