Coming back to Iowa in late 1967, she and her husband, Marv, (a businessman, teacher and pastor), raised their 3 children (Dan, Cheryl, and Jason). They spent 16 years in Missouri and 4 years in Oregon. In 1988 they moved back to Iowa where Marv and Sylvia planted HighPoint City Church in Iowa City. It is there that they are living out their lives, enjoying the richness of relationships, community, and following the Master Jesus Christ.
