Marxism and Leninism
This book challenges the pervasive view, responsible for much confusion in both politics and scholarship, that there is such a thing as Marxism-Leninism--that Marxism and Leninism are one ideology, or that Leninism is merely reinterpreted Marxism. Kautsky argues that the two have always been quite distinct ideologies, and by distinguishing between the words and substance of ideology, he shows how the employment of a single vocabulary by Marx and Lenin has confused Marxists, Leninists, and outside observers. This study analyzes the two ideologies in sociology-of-knowledge terms, and thus explains the differences between Marxism and Leninism with reference to their respective relationships to certain labor movements in industrialized countries and revolutionary movements in underdeveloped countries.
