Book One - Martin Frankie is an investigator who is always in control until her life falls apart. Everything she thinks is real is tested. She investigates the death of a faith healer's grandmother in a small Pacific Northwest town. Frankie learns that some who die, do not so easily depart. As the veil between the here and the hereafter becomes very thin, she questions everything, including her sanity. She must fight for her client against her own agency's agenda and finds there is more to life and to death than she ever imagined.

The Metaphysical Mystery Series are stories told in the tradition of Magical Realism where the fantastic emerge when least expected. Follow Frankie Dupree's search for her missing reality and her knack to be in the wrong place at the perfect time.
When this journey starts, Frankie is a hardnosed investigator who has respect for the rules, especially if they are hers. She has created a predictable world until she turns fifty and her rules no longer apply. She struggles to put her life together to discover the facade between her consciousness and the other side is not what she thought it to be. The more she learns, the less she knows. Her truth no longer works, but her answers are out there if she is brave enough for the journey.

About the Author

Surprise, I am a writer. I woke up one night on vacation and wrote the first notes of Martin on a motel scratch pad before the dream went wherever it is they go. The first whisperings of dozens of friends who introduced themselves in the next five years. I visited and chronicled their adventures. I was never sure where they would go, but knew it would be profound. Now that one adventure is done, and others are started, it is time to share their story with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and find their journey an inspiration to where ever it is that you are going.

I had a long career in social services helping children and adults make their lives a little better. After years as an investigative social worker in Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services, I retired as an administrator in a state agency helping elderly and disabled adults. I started my spiritual journey in earnest nearly three decades ago and have learned that we are never alone unless we want it to be. I am just beginning to appreciate what I don’t know, a theme woven into the stories I tell. My wife of twenty-five years is my greatest supporter, encouraging me to write when my mood sours. My children are grown, and I help how I can with the next generation, all great teachers in exploring what life has to offer.

I may be biased. I know the author and the setting and have deep affection for both. That said, I loved this book! I did little else while reading this delightful story. I really liked the character development. The author weaves extraordinary humor into his interesting plot twists and makes you care about his characters. I liked the book's unique exploration of various spiritual ideas - very relevant and timely. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

I found this wonderfully written, each chapter was a haiku story itself, and short enough to keep me wanting to read more and more each time I sat down to briefly read a little more! The descriptions were colorful, and I was able to easily picture what the author was portraying. The explanations of Unity teachings and much of New Thought was well explained and demystifying for those who may have been wary of this approach to Christianity. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
