The objective of this volume is the contribution of the Marshall Plan in the reconstruction and division of the European continent two years after the end of World War II.The first part focuses on the relations of the American national ideology with the American external affairs, on the long term causes and the short term motives behind the Marshall Plan,as well as the new reality the Americans had to face immidiatelly after 1945. The second part concerns the utilization of the Marshall Plan, as atool for the economic, social and political reconstruction of Western Europe in addition to other countries like Italy, Western Germany, France and Greece. The third is comprised by an investigation of the vibrations the Marshall Plan caused to the communist world along with the division of Europe after the winter of 1947-1948.
