Overview

Marion Winik, one of the country's best-known personal essayists, believes in telling the truth. Her award-winning personal essays tell secrets about herself, and describe the raw power of relationships, experiences and passions. This collection of recordings includes a workshop on the craft of personal storytelling and a speech on the ethics of self-exposure. In all, she reads eight of her own essays.

Editorial Reviews

OCT/NOV 02 - AudioFile

All of Marion Winik's talent and charm come forth in this delightful presentation. She not only shares her excellent advice for personal essayists, she also gives her very soul as she combines her ideas with many personal experiences and anecdotes. Listeners are able to hear Marion the teacher and also listen to her students as they follow her lead, doing assignments and then reading their work. We, literally, participate in the class, the only thing better would be SEEING Marion as she lectures (she probably has great body language). All writers will pick up tips as they join Marion from their armchairs. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2002, Portland, Maine
