Manasseh
The title of this book "Manasseh: At the Cross God Caused Me to Forget" is a perfect description of what God has done in my good friend Daniel Loiacono. Manasseh was Joseph's firstborn son (Gen. 41:50). His name means "God has caused me to forget." God caused Joseph "to forget" the pain and hurt of his past. This is what the message of the cross has done in Daniels' life.
In knowing Daniel for the last 17 years, I have seen the faithfulness of God and the power of the cross bring restoration in his life in a "biblical" way. What God has done in him is beyond what man can do -- ONLY Jesus Christ can bring a change like this.
Daniel is a living example of the prodigal son who wandered away from God, lived life his own way and on his own terms, experienced the serious consequences of sin, but whom Jesus Christ cleaned up and radically changed. all the years of rebellion, drugs, violence, and pain could not prove too much for the power of Jesus Christ. All the programs and methods of this world did nothing but leave him more empty. BUT GOD...
Daniel clearly portrays through his testimony the way to be saved, delivered, restored, and to grow in one's relationship with God -- ALL through FAITH ALONE in Jesus Christ and what He did at the cross. "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Cor. 1:18). The message of the cross is the message that declares that God has provided EVERYTHING we need through the death of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross. Now Daniel is preaching, teaching, and more than anything living the "message of the cross." Seeing this first hand has been a tremendous encouragement in my life and I know it will be in yours.
