Examines strategy making in Brazilian universities by focusing on the link between strategy and both organizational style and leadership style. The underlying premise of this study is that organizational style incorporates structure, decision making and culture, which in turn has implications for the way in which strategies can be formed. This results in institutional leaders having to modify and adapt their own managerial style in order to effectively influence and direct strategy making. While the focus is on Brazilian universities, the idea is that the developed theoretical framework and findings on strategic processes, decision making and leadership fit into a broader context.
