اعظم راہی کے فنی اظہار کا ایک رخ اگر ان کے افسانے تھے تو دوسرا رخ ان کی نثری شاعری ہے۔ اس شاعری کا تیکھا، چبھتا ہوا لب و لہجہ، رمز اور ایمائیت کے نشتر میں ڈبوئے ہوئے لفظ اس بات کی غمازی کرتے ہیں کہ اس شاعری کو قافیہ پیمائی یا تُک بندی سے دور کا بھی واسطہ نہیں ہے۔ کنٹنٹ کے اعتبار سے راہی کی نظمیں بڑی حد تک متنوع ہیں۔ ایک اوسط شہری زندگی کے وہ تمام مسائل جن سے ایک برہم نوجوان دوچار رہا ہے ، راہی کی نظموں کا موضوع بنے ہیں۔ لیکن شاعر نے اپنی تخلیقات میں محض مسئلہ کو چھیڑا نہیں بلکہ اس سے پیدا شدہ احساس کا ایک فنکارانہ تجزیہ بھی کیا ہے۔
