Overview

I remember my first time at an I.E.P meeting for my son Shayne. It was the most exhausting experience of my life. I felt like it was me against everyone, but really it wasn't like that. What I came to understand, was that it was my lack of knowledge and preparedness that influenced this thought. This I.E.P process was an intricate part of my son's education and growth as a young man, and I didn't know what to do!
As a man and a father, we often feel as though just being there is enough; I get it! But what I quickly had to learn, is that my presence was to be felt by the impact of understanding and advocating for my son.And I did this by with the understanding what an I.E.P was and its components. After researching and understanding the I.E.P, I quickly felt a stronger connection with my son, but also with his educators and mother. As always, my purpose is to "love on" my fellow father's, and putting my heart and knowledge into this book means everything to me. So sit back, get your coffee gentleman and read up. And don't forget to pass on this knowledge to another man that may need it!

You got this!
I love you all!

About the Author

As a Father of an 14 year old who is on the Autism spectrum, Jamiel Owens is truly an advocate for his son Shayne and other Autism parents. Jamiel has been through May challenges and triumphs in his life as an disabled individual himself; which has led him to give back to other men that may be experiencing the same issues within their own life, but without someone to speak to about them; the reason why he started his platform "The Ausome show " and his nonprofit "Ausomeness Inc. ". Raised in North Philadelphia, Jamiel has served his and other communities as an law enforcement officer, a civil servant, and is currently an volunteer firefighter and EMT. Jamiel also believes and implements a religious foundation when speaking to other Fathers; he states "fathers' souls are the key to embracing and truly loving their "Ausome" child."
