Overview

Maizey the squirrel and her favorite toys did everything together, until one went missing. She searches
everywhere for the toy and never gives up seeking it. Upon the toy's return, Maizey rejoices and
invites everyone she knows for the celebration.

The Bible teaches us that we are like sheep and sometimes wander away from God. That makes God
very sad, but he never gives up on us. He keeps searching for us and calling to us. He wants to draw
us back into his arms. He even sent Jesus, his Son, to save those who are lost.

This story of Maizey and her favorite toys was interpreted from Matthew 18:12-14
and Luke 15:3-7, inspired by life with my daughter and her dolls, and the Pacific Northwest wildlife.

He left the 99 to rescue me.

About the Author

Joscelyn Johnston lives in Estacada, Oregon and is a first-time author and illustrator. She draws
inspiration from the natural world around her and enjoys watching the view of wildlife from her
back window. She has been working with children’s art programs as artist-in-residence and enjoys bringing
color through art whenever possible. Joscelyn is married to her husband William, and they have three
children; life is never dull with them around!

Everyone can relate to the sorrow over loosing a toy and with the application guide at the back,
I can lead my kids in a discussion how this story relates to the bible parables. It is a modern adaptation
of the story of the Lost Sheep.
