Overview

Each of these 6 slippers begins with the magic ring technique. This technique creates a tightly closed center when you're crocheting in the round, so there's no need to worry about your toes poking through your slippers! Instructions are included for 3 sizes in each slipper. Magic ring tutorial also included. 4 slippers are made using worsted-weight yarn and 2 are made using bulky-weight yarn.

CHAPTER 1

Crocheting a Magic Ring

1. Leaving the tail 4 to 5 inches long, wrap the yarn around your index and long fingers on your left hand to form a ring. Let the working yarn cross over the tail on top of your index finger and go to the back (see photo 1).

2. Loosen the ring on your fingers, and grasp the join with your fingers where the two strands overlap (see photo 2).

3. Insert the hook through the ring (see photo 3a) and pull up a loop from the working end of the yarn (see photo 3b). Chain one stitch (see photos 3c and 3d).

4. Single crochet around the ring strand and yarn tail as many times as the pattern states (see photos 4a and 4b).

5. Pull the yarn tail to tightly close the ring center (see photos 5a and 5b).

6. If the pattern calls for it, work a slip stitch into the first single crochet to join the round (see photos 6a and 6b).

7. After working a couple rounds on the project, use a darning needle to weave the yarn tail a couple times through the stitches on the very first round. Pull tight to secure. Cut the yarn tail.
