Overview

Yeat followed the success of his Top Ten-charting 2022 full-length 2 Alive with Lyfe, a shorter release which also reached the Top Ten. With 12 songs, this is only acknowledged as an EP compared to his albums and mixtapes, which routinely hold 20 tracks or more. A shorter duration provides a more potent dose of his hyperactive style, which is distinguished by his melodic stop-start bars, unpredictable onomatopoeic outbursts, and self-created slang. The Lil Uzi Vert collaboration "Flawless" and single "Talk" received the most attention, but the atmospheric, guitar-driven "Can't Stop It" is the low-key highlight of the release, and "Holy 1" has similarly ear-catching, sparkling production. ~ Paul Simpson
