Description: This is the fifth edition of a book detailing how to successfully transition from an LPN to a RN role. The previous edition was published in 2013.
Purpose: The purpose is to help returning LPN students make a successful transition to the RN role. The book includes real-life case studies reflecting LPN struggles during the transition. The chapters follow a logical progression through three sections that cover the change process, RN core competencies, and role concepts.
Audience: The intended audience is LPNs returning to school. The book helps readers understand that a successful transition requires creation of a plan to balance school, work, personal, professional, and financial commitments.
Features: This updated edition has added more evidence-based practice strategies, clinical management, cultural proficiency, and global health concepts. Additionally, the book has been expanded to engage a more diverse readership, including male, multicultural, and cross-gender students.
