About the Author

Deborah (Deb) Price, RN, MSN, envisions a growing “peaceful death revolution” in which we all make our own fully informed choices as we contemplate and prepare for our inevitable death. She is a champion for choosing hospice care at end of life over acute care provided by hospitals.
Deb urges you to think about death before a health crisis makes you vulnerable to the “do everything” approach that often occurs in acute healthcare settings, the antithesis of the peaceful, comfortable death you may experience in your own home, surrounded by loved ones. Without proper planning, both the dying and their families risk heartbreaking guilt and regret instead of loving comfort at the end of life.
It is Deb’s rally cry that we all can be more in control of our own lives until our last breath. Planning a good death is the ultimate last act of love for ourselves and for those we love.
Throughout her 45-year career in nursing (that included service in the USAF), Deb knew that providing quality care for the dying was the ultimate form of nursing for her. Inspired by Dr. Patch Adams and fellow nurse, Patty Wooten, Deb also became a therapeutic hospital clown (Nurse Hug-A-Bunch) to bring laughter to patients undergoing clinical research protocols. In addition to her work in clinical research, assisted living, and eldercare, Deb became certified in hospice and palliative nursing as well, and volunteered to provide care to patients in an inpatient hospice facility. She remains a member of the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association. Her hospice experience and many other nursing experiences compelled her to write this book as a guide for everyone who is going to die.
Deb continues her work in health communication and science writing for the National Institutes of Health while she and her husband enjoy life in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in upstate South Carolina. For speaking inquiries, workshops, and just to connect, reach out to Deb at .
