While most people are familiar with the erotic lyrics from the Carmina Burana through the music of Carl Orff, few have had ready access to the original poems collected in the Codex Buranus. This edition presents about half of the erotic poems in a carefully annotated collection, which includes the Latin text, detailed notes and vocabulary, and literal prose translations. It also includes a valuable introductory essay, discussing the history of the text and its cultural and literary context, as well as a bibliography.
