About the Author

Iona Lynn Herriott currently resides in Decatur , Georgia with her family. A 2021 graduate of Skidmore University in Saratoga Springs,New York, Iona continues to pursue excellence as a Literary Workshop Designer and Content Creator.
She developed a passion for writing in her formative years as a co-writer, director and performer with grandmother, the late Rosa Cox of Panama City, Florida.
This inaugural launch is from the inspirations of her love of family and friends.

College is a critical time in one’s life, formative in so many ways. But not everyone is fortunate enough to go to college, even in this day and age, and among those who do go to college, experiences drastically differ. I am privileged to work with a group of college students who are from diverse backgrounds, mostly first-generation college students, and not demographically the typical student at a small, private, liberal arts college in upstate New York. And thank goodness for that because they add so much richness to the college landscape here. They show me every day, that though college might be an alien world in so many ways, it ultimately is an avenue for transformation and a journey to becoming the best version of themselves. Despite encountering many challenges and adjustments, they find a way to overcome and complete their college journey successfully. Iona is one of those young people. I met Iona during her first year in college and I have seen her grow over the years, becoming one of her advisors in her last years in college. While everyone’s lived experience can be different, I hope her experiences and her writing give you a moment to reflect and energy to keep going on your journey to become the best version of yourself.
