Lançado em 1994, durante o papado de São João Paulo II, o Encontro Mundial das Famílias é uma celebração alegre da família e da fé. Ele é realizado a cada três anos. O arcebispo da Filadélfi a Charles J. Chaput afi rmou que o encontro de 2015 "sera uma bênção não só para os católicos da Filadélfi a, mas para todas as pessoas de boa vontade de todo o mundo."

For Pope Francis, as for his predecessors Saint John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, this is more than just talk. It is a rallying cry. This is the focus of the 2015 World Meeting of Families: Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive.
