As Clifford struggles to find out how and why Jean-Paul died, he is joined in his quest by members of a local group of amateur paranormal investigators who are already investigating decades of mysterious disappearances along the National Pike, the old highway that crosses their county.

Nonetheless, the characters are drawn into a whirlpool of unanswered questions, terrifying fears, and inexplicable circumstances that lead them to make life and death choices to find or release themselves from the truth.
