Overview

This book is about the early settlers of a small village called Montague, in Prince Edward Island. It gives the history of two families in particular, Robert Lemon and William Annear. These two men brought their families to Canada in the year of 1834 and settled on the Montague River, in what was then called Montague Bridge. There were only four other houses in the area, built in the middle of dense forest, and inhabited by Micmac Indians, bears and other wild animals. Robert's son, John Lemon married William's daughter, Elizabeth, and the two produced eleven children. Many of the descendants of these two and other members of the Annear and Lemon families are now scattered all across Canada and the United States and number in the thousands. There is a gold mine of information for those descendants who are looking for their roots. This book was first published in 2004 with a limited number of copies for family members only. It is now available to the general public. Come look up the Lemon tree with us.
