Overview

This two-fer CD combines Lone Star's 1976 self-titled debut with Firing on All Six released the following year. These LPs were originally released on Epic and had been out of print until being reissued in 2003 on the U.K. label The Beat Goes On. The most interesting aspect of this British band was how they managed to sound a great deal like Led Zeppelin! Several of these tunes sound like Zep outtakes, especially "The Ballad of Crafty Jack," which completely apes "Trampled Under Foot." With the exception of an absolutely wretched version of the Beatles "She Said, She Said" these long-lost albums really aren't that bad. . . although they probably don't warrant a campaign for a Lone Star revival. ~ Al Campbell
