When May, a carefree twentysomething computer security worker at a Shoreditch web hosting company, evades two kidnapping attempts, she finds herself dragged into a long-simmering secret war between rival magical factions. Now she' s drafted to put her talents to work crafting magical intrusion countermeasures for a centuries-old guild of spellcrafting sex workers hidden in London' s shadows. But her new job puts her square in the crosshairs of powerful, politically connected rivals among London' s elite. May must scramble to learn the arts of magic, while she and her fellow students are hunted across London by wealthy, influential adversaries with deadly magical talents of their own.

Now she must use all her intelligence, resources, and wiles if she is to adapt to this violent, seductive world, this hidden London of magic and secrets, dangers and possibilities, bubbling just beneath the surface of the London she thought she knew.
