Gr 6 Up-Adapted from the author's Secrets of the Universe: Discovering the Universal Laws of Science (Atheneum, 1987; o.p.), these titles each provide a brief introduction to the laws and principles governing a specific area of science. The clean layout and concise coverage include activities for further study, although they would not be appropriate for science-fair projects. The texts are almost identical to the corresponding chapters in the original, but they are supplemented here with clear, two-color line drawings and diagrams. In Liquids, the chapters focus on Archimedes's principle, Pascal's law, Boyle's and Charles's laws, and Bernoulli's principle, although other scientists are covered. Waves covers optics, the laws of electromagnetism, and electric current (Ohm's law and Joule's law).
