Having read a great deal about the Holocaust, I approached this novel, thinking there couldn't be another way to use this uniquely shameful time in recent history in a plausible narrative. I was mistaken. Alice Haro has given us a great story that uses historical facts and first-hand evidence to create a clever juxtaposition between a contemporary setting and the horror of a Nazi concentration camp. The pace and plot are excellent, and the twist at the end is dramatic and unexpected.
