About the Author

Lewis Meline is a medical doctor and expert in nutrition and exercise. His education in nutrition and exercise began over 40 years ago. At that time, he was in the Air Force and was over-weight and out-of-shape. Being like this severely bothered him. Not knowing where to turn, he began studying nutrition from text books and many other sources. He was also interested in exercising. After evaluating various ways to exercise, he decided to lift weights.

After a few months of research, he obtained a 100 pound weight set and put together a simple routine. He also began to apply the nutrition information. After a few weeks, he noticed that nutrition was affecting his workouts. This encouraged him to continue to study nutrition and weight lifting to maximize the benefits from eating healthily and exercising appropriately.

Many athlete's diets were used trying to maximize his nutrition. However, after years of blindly following these and other diet plans, and using various supplements, he noticed that the expected results were not being obtained. Was he doing something wrong? Was his diet inappropriate? Was he using the wrong supplements? Was he executing his workout routines correctly? This led him to start investigating the cause of the discrepancies he noted.

In medical school, he thought many of his questions would be answered. However, medical school did not address nutrition well and certainly could not resolve the discrepancies noted.
